last wednesday

One of my favorite spring wildflowers is the Bloodroot and it was in full bloom at The Center this week.

So sweet all scattered among the trees.

Little stars when they pop open...

and they even have beautiful leaves.

In class this week, Barb showed us an easy way to gelli-print.
Fun!

Papers to use as a background...

or in bits and pieces in our collages.

Something fun to play around with!

Meanwhile, Barb started her "Squares" collage.

And Sandy, on her ATC's for our exchange in a few weeks at the ending class of this session.

thursday's drawing class...

We've been working on mandalas for a few weeks now and so I decided to pattern one after my trip to the beach this week, from the photographs that I posted below.  Not done yet, but working on it.

the beach

Yesterday, Julie and I went to the lake with a friend.  Windy and chilly, but so so beautiful.  Of course, I had to walk the beach and collect some rocks...

The sky was so blue...

and the waves so white.

So good to see birds and sun.

Here's my day's treasures.

Monday's class

Yesterday, in class, we made serendipity papers.  First putting down a layer of colored tissue on top of the text wove and then adding the scraps of papers, so if there are any open spaces or translucent scraps, the colored tissue will show through.  After that, we applied a acrylic wash to unite it all.

Then the fun part will eventually come; choosing the "sweet spots" to put into your collage.

Here is Cynthia's progression...

"don't fall in love with your paper...it'll be going into your collage in pieces."

Cynthia's "squares" collage is coming out beautifully.  Now she will add some other little hints of interest between the squares.

I love how she has placed the owl!  Isn't he wonderful?

Happy Easter...

Happy Easter Sunday

Yesterday was the Easter Egg Roundup at The Center...

Lois, Mark and I work in the barn, filling the little baskets with hay for the children to put their egg in, after they have gathered it from the chicken coop.

We have a lovely view all morning, looking out at the beautiful horses.

Then, on the way out, I always have to stop...

to say "hello" to the beautiful bunnies...

they feel just like velvet.

happy Spring!
