The Bunny

Today's drawing was supposed to be what excites me...nature, of course!

This neighborhood bunny caused much excitement yesterday though, when Mark had Henri out beyond the backyard to play with Wrigley.  He had him on the long leash so that there would be no escaping, but, in a flash, Henri heard or spotted the bunny and off he flew with Mark chasing behind!  Caught him!  And thank goodness, the bunny was faster than Henri.  Whew!

Goings-on this month...

Julie and Rob had a party for their good friends who are moving to Hawaii and Angel made this Shark...

Isn't he great!
He's got a mouthful of gummy fish.

And here's the pig roast...

Lots of guests and it was a fun day for all!

Two days of a "drawing a day"...

View from a window.  My home away from home.
The window where I sit at The Center in the Log Cabin For The Arts.

Always enjoy finding poetry or quotes to go with my journal drawing.  I liked these that I found to go along with my wallet drawing.

Today's sketch...

My friend, Teri, put this in our white elephant exchange and I got it!  Yay!   We have this each June before summer break and oh!  the treasures we go home with...  fun!

Sketch for the day was to the tune of keys, but I also found a poem that I liked...

You are the keeper of the keys
You are the guard at the gate
Waiting in line to go through that door
Is love.  And also hate.
In line to enter is gentle peace.
And also violent war.
You must choose who may, and who
may not come through the door.
Intolerance tries to sneak on through
On wings of fear, or pride.
It hides behind dreams of belonging
And tries to sneak inside.
Oh!  Be alert! You're the guard who decides
Who goes and who may stay
You are the keeper of the keys to your mind.
Who will you let in today?

a colored pencil day

Needed to do a drawing of a coffee cup, so did just a little colored pencil drawing yesterday at drawing class, but wanted to do it of our special little cups we use at The Center art classes.  The pottery teacher there, Karen Stasky, makes these special cups for us to enjoy our coffee or tea in.  The watercolor wash background perfectly left some highlights to show reflections in the cup and coffee!

The Visitor

Henri can be sound asleep and he hears a rustling in the tree outside the window...

Ah-ha!  look who's peeking out!

It's "Squirrel-y"!

"Henri, look how I can stretch..."

"It's so yummy...

and I'm hungry too...

 and the weather's getting cooler...

and I must fatten up...

but...save some for the birds, you say?  Oh..."

"You move on, Squirrel-y!"

just stuff...

Early morning things on my kitchen table...

Sitting early morning wondering what to do for my drawing a day.  Furniture.  A kitchen chair; kind of wonky, so added some splotches of coffee.  :D
