Bird watching

My daughter has a planter, with a millet in it, on her deck. The finches have been coming and yesterday when I was there, I got to enjoy them.

I love to watch the birds and think they are so pretty. I think these pictures can satisfy the theme for "Friday Pretties". www.iloveprettylittlethings.blogspot.com

Little acrobat reaching for the best seed.

Yum! And giving us a show as we enjoy a front row seat.

Collage fun!

I invited my collage class over for an extra day of creating fun! We made these little cards with envelopes to match.

First doing "strip" collage on a 1-1/2" piece of mat and putting a color wash over it and then attaching it in the card window.

Some of the girls had not seen each other since class was over, so there was lots of chattering and catching up on everyone's summer.

Here's one in the making. Pretty green.

Busy hands.

And lunch!

Melon and Summer salad.

Breads and fresh summer tomatoes.

Julie made Giada's Antipasto plate.

Looking good with her roasted red peppers in the center.

So we created and ate and created and ate.

Marge showed us how to do gestural lettering. We could either use it on our little decorated square or on the blank part of the card for decoration and interest.
A nice time of sharing ideas.

Not many supplies needed for this project and you end up with a lovely little card.
I think everyone had fun!

Even Danielle!

Beating the heat

Yesterday morning, before it got too hot, Julie and I took a walk at Hibernia Park. It's a half mile around the little lake and we went three times around. The scale was the same this morning though.

I just love looking at all the wildflowers and have to stop once in a while for a picture.

And these are pretty; some kind of lilies growing in the water.

The ducks were having a fun time swimming and splashing around.

What are you looking for?

Aren't they funny?

Oh..... okay!

"Club"

Yesterday was "club" and a trip out to Oswego where one of my friends lives. These are my good ol' school chums and friends since the summer we graduated from grammar school and going into high school. Almost a lifetime. We began with frozen Marguaritas on the patio.

My friend's daughter loves gardening and she has a beautiful pond in their backyard with water trickling down this little rocky cascade. It's so restful.

And full of happy goldfish! It is well established, and she had read and read about it before doing it. She says she feeds them until October or so when it gets cold and then they hibernate for the winter in there, and in the spring she begins to feed them again. Over the winter, they have breeded and multiplied.

This is the way to have goldfish! In the spring, she said there are also lots of tadpoles and when they become frogs, they are off and hopping and she doesn't see them again. Just hears them somewhere off in the distance.

Two of us were missing, including me taking the picture, but we had a yummy grilled italian sausage and chicken lunch, and a delightful chat.

Little angel food cakes with fresh berries and whipped cream for dessert. Perfect for a summer day!

A new toy

Henri' has a new toy. It's called a "Pet Stix". It looks like a stuffed tree branch.

At first he wasn't so sure what to do with it.

But now he likes it and even tries to fit it through the slats in the deck, just like he does with his ball.

That's hard work! So afterward, it's time for a nap.

An evening at the theatre...

Last night, we went to see The Opening Night Arts Group production of "Willy Wonka Junior" at Trinity Christian College. It was delightful. The kids put their "all" into it and there were voices that were wonderful! Afterward, we headed for the Plush Horse for some ice cream! Yum!
