Little cards

Still working on samples of little gift cards and envelopes to do at my workshop this month. Some are 1" and some are 1-1/2". Using images and words from magazines, it's fun!

Then here is the "triptych" style, decorated with a front opening.

An inexpensive and fun card to make, using wrapping paper or scrapbook paper.

With a cheery note inside. Again the "ransom note" letters. I love letters and using them this way is decorative and fun!

And the little "petal" card to insert into a small gift.

Apple Crisp!

Found four pretty good apples on Julie's tree, cut off some little spots (no bugs or worms) and added one Granny Smith apple that she had in the kitchen, and sliced them up this morning for a crisp!

Mixed up the topping. Maybe added too much cinnamon. I forgot, with Penzey's you don't have to add as much. But I couldn't find nutmeg.

The kitchen smelled wonderful as it baked.

Warm and delish! I couldn't wait to taste it and so it was so warm, it fogged my camera lens. I ate it and I guess they aren't poison apples - I'm still here.

Morning!

Leaving Julie's house this morning, I came out the front door and "Relax-a-Bun" greeted me! He thinks he's "people", you know, and he just calmly sits there.

"Good morning, Relax-a-Bun! It's okay. I know Julie lets you eat her flowers."

" nibble-nibble."

We had a nice little chat. I told him that I had to go home for a while and that the beagles would not be out to play until later. You know, sometimes he hops up and down the other side of the fence with them and Julie is sure that he thinks they are playing! He always scoots away though. Maybe he's just trying to wear them out for good...and then he can just move in.

"Have a nice day."

Driving on, I decided to stop at Hibernia Park and take a walk for myself. There were some fishermen out there...

and the ducks were busy too.

Again, always have to check out the pretty wildflowers.

In flew the geese and one was sure giving the orders! Honked the whole time they were there. And all of a sudden, they all took off and wow, the sound of their wings hitting the water on take-off was amazing!

I walked around the lake twice, so got one mile in! Wanted to do that before the heat came, but maybe it's not going to get as hot as they said.

Evening came...

Julie's planters are just bursting with color...

And the sunsets are breathtaking!

I walked out with the beagles to take some pictures and just outside the fence was "Relax-a-Bun's" friend. I think so anyway because this bunny is a little smaller.

When I turned around to walk back to the house, the air was filled with dragonflies. Big ones! At first I thought they were barn swallows, the way they were flitting around and swooping. I wonder what's out now that the dragonflies like to eat. Glad it wasn't me.

...and then they were gone.

The fun!

Well, I told you about "the beagles" at Julie's house in the previous post and so now I will tell you about the fun I have while I am there. I always bring some art supplies with and have myself a good ol' time.

I brought my little journal that I made in Marge's workshop this summer and looking for something to journal about, I picked on the little apple tree she has. I don't think she planted it. I think it was just there. The apples are not pretty apples to just pick and eat but I still love that little tree.

I'm also working on samples of little gift cards to present at a workshop that I am doing this month at The Center. Fun! Fun! Worked on them last night and then again this morning, along with my oatmeal.

Back to the apples. Here is the tree.

I wonder how they taste. As many years as it's been there, I don't think we have ever eaten one. The bugs and birds do.

Now here's one with promise! I'll let you know.

The beagles

I am beagle-sitting this weekend. This is "Missy". Julie adopted her quite a few years ago and she is a very good girl. She knows how good she has it!

Julie, like her mother (tsk-tsk), has many collections and one of them is beagles. I think this one looks like Missy.

And here is "Abby". She is the smallest, but she is the oldest. A good girl too, most of the time, and as most of you know she is blind. She has one thing on her mind - food!

She is a brave little soldier.

Our dear friend, Tish, painted this portrait of the two of them for Julie. Looks just like them. It's wonderful!

And here is a beagle rock that I bought many years ago somewhere on vacation. It just wanted to be part of the collection!
