Berkeley Bob's

My cousin, Gerri, and her husband, Bob, have a coffee house in Alabama. It's called "Berkeley Bob's Coffee House" and "The Whole Earth Store". It's a 1960's California style coffee house and was featured recently in "Southern Living" magazine. http://www.berkeleybob.com/ If anyone is headed to Alabama this summer, stop in!

"A day without coffee is a day without a dawn

A day without music and we miss life's song

A day without love is a day gone wrong." Berkeley Bob

Fashion Show

Here is where I went today.

And here I am all done!

My bandana is not for girls!

Nice coiffure!

Front view.

Okay, a turnabout.

Ou-la-la!

Can we go home now?

"Freddie"

"Freddie" continues to grow. Not being fond of that nasty little plastic aquarium, I went out to the store again and got him a nice glass 2-gallon bowl. Big enough for one fish! And even if I have to clean it more often, it feels better. He's happier, I think.
And today, "Henri" has a beauty shop appointment at 9.

March 9th

Thinking of Brent today. It's his 20th birthday! "Happy Birthday, Brent!" We'll celebrate next week, when he is home for spring break. Pizza! And another reason for cupcakes! Our writer, and I can't wait to hear what he's working on.

"Clara"

Yesterday, Danielle and I continued to work on her sock doll. She made a giraffe necklace and then she picked out earrings, "pretties" for her hair, shoes, and of course she had to have a heart.
She named her "Clara". Now we have to give her some arms and a dress. She's coming to life!

Rainy morning

Dark clouds this morning and a huge downpour just before Henri had to go out for the second time. Out on the deck, I heard a robin and then a surprise! I am sure I heard the Eastern Wood-Pewee. A long time ago, on a wildflower walk at The Center, Carol pointed out the call of the pewee and I loved it. It sounds like he is announcing himself, Carol said. I have only heard it at The Center. "pe-wee - pe-wee" What a treat!

Feels like spring

Snowdrops! It was poetry class at The Center this morning and afterward I walked over to the art log cabin. It is a warm day, in the 60s, and in front of the log cabin I saw these little green sprouts. Snowdrops are one of the first bulbs to bloom in the spring. A sweet sign.

Poetry class is every other week and I had forgotten that this was the week. Quickly doing my homework this morning, I needed to write a poem using the word "speculate". I knew I had to write a quickie and it went like this -

"Speculation"

The day ahead, I speculate
The hours, I hope to celebrate
If moments of chaos complicate
Home, I'll head to hibernate!

No need to do that now, seeing those little snowdrops! Celebrate!
