and so.....

It was December 11th and I still had no idea what I was going to do for my Christmas card!  Good grief!  Then my neighbor's beautiful evergreen tree came into my mind and when I took Henri out in the morning, I took my camera with and snapped some pictures of it.  It's such a beautiful tree; I always admire it.  I think the birds love it; there's so much shelter.  So, I printed the photo and went down to my art room and had some fun with collage.....

Merry Christmas!

Continuing to catch-up with last week...

On Thursday of last week, my head was swimming with thoughts of Christmas "doings" and I didn't know what I was going to work on.  Found a photograph of Danielle, from a few years ago, and decided to begin a sketch of that.

The rest of Lois' class was buzzing with ideas.  Here's Evie's darling snowman.

Pat asked me if she could try to do a drawing using my "ice skate card" as a reference.  Sure!  and nice job!

Pretty bird house by Gretchen.

Allan is finishing a Fall display.

Mary was working on her beautiful drawing for her Christmas card...

and she brought in these pieces to show us that she did in her pottery class...aren't they wonderful!

Tuesday's Luncheon

Yesterday we had a Christmas Luncheon at The Center in honor of Joan Walsh Anglund.  Lunch was yummy and Lois gave a lovely slide show and talk about this wonderful artist and author.  Her sweet drawings of children reflect their innocence.

I helped with the crafts and we made this little girl with the familiar face of Joan Walsh Anglund's drawings...

added a pine cone for her body and there she is, ready for Christmas.  Some of the ladies added pipe cleaner arms and a little paper book so that she could go caroling.

Here you can see one of her famous children.

We made cranberry hearts, gift tags, a little seed bag for the birds, a cornucopia, the little pine cone girl, and cut paper dolls.  It was a "feel good" day.

For the birds:  "Spread this birdseed on your doorstep on New Year's morning for a year of good luck...for you and the birds!"

the Christmas Lists

On Thanksgiving, I asked the girls to make their wish lists.  Love the "long crazy socks" on Danielle's list (she loves the ones that I bought for myself in Door County) and "some clothes - maybe"...ha!

and Kassidy's "erasers that pull apart"...she must mean the grey kind that we use in drawing class that you can stretch and pull and make clean again.  The "hoola-hoop" is the weighted kind that Aunt Julie has and that Danielle got for her birthday in the Fall.  and.....

"Please read, Santa"!

Lots to catch up on!

Back to Wednesday and the last class of this session. We had fun making these folded star ornaments that Barb showed us how to make for our finale.

I also had another star ornament to show and we created some of those too.

Whimsical!

And back to the folded star ornament, these are some I made.  I had painted computer paper on both sides so that however you viewed the ornament, it would be the same color.

Then, this one I stamped with white gesso and a jar lid.

And this one, I I stamped with a small round sponge dabber on a gold stamp pad.

Some brought in their pieces that they finished from this session too.  Here is MaryAnn's all framed and looking wonderful!

Sandy's

Marge's

Bernie's

Denise's

Denise also made these wonderful ornaments as a gift for each in class.

Then it was on to Quilting in the afternoon, and here is Esther with her lovely Christmas quilt.

Shirley is making a vest.

Kathy's colorful "jelly bean" quilt.

and then she started a pretty table runner.

And I decided to cut out some pieces for "tumbler" potholders.

On to Thursday and Friday next....it was the Christmas Retreat this weekend and had no time before I left.  Fun again!
