a new life for an old drawing

Did this line drawing years ago and Julie wanted to hang it by her front hall coat hooks.
How about that!

My Little Paper Towel Workshop

The idea here was making small collage pieces, either beach or garden themed.  First painting paper towels with the colors that came to mind for those themes and then cutting them into 1-1/2 inch squares for the color focus of our collages.
An afternoon quickie!

These are my samples, which were mostly beach-y.
Just love the aqua and sand colors this year!

Then the magenta and gold.

and, card-sized, a bit of a naval theme.

A humid day, it was a challenge to get our paper towels to dry.

Our clothesline.

Journaling along...

Spending time at Julie's this week, beagle-sitting, so have time to draw along with journaling.  Sitting and reading and writing after supper.

Missy having a siesta on the deck.

Morning coffee.

and the chair across from me and some thoughts...

It's a Wednesday...

No regular class today, but an "open studio" day.  It was a day for catching up with unfinished projects.

Maryann wants to finish her beautiful slate piece.  Love the earthy colors!

Nancy's first collage is of her garden.  Almost finished and truly lovely!

Judy's summer piece reveals her thoughts of Hawaii.  Love that water color and the colors of shells, fish and turtles.

Everyone accomplished quite a lot and that made this teacher happy!

in the garden...

the frogs were enjoying the cover of clover that's growing up and around them, but...

is this kind of like getting "a pie in the face"?  oh, or maybe it's "egg on your face"?
Oh dear...

catch-up

Summer break and trying to catch-up with a few projects that need to be done.  Working on the calendar page for the Study Group's 2015 calendar.  Now to make final adjustments and have it printed.

And, as if i needed something else to do, i found this little project from http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com.  It's called "Index Card-a-Day and that's what you do, following the prompts she gives you.  Mine are very simple but just something else to make you think and keep you creating.  And...you might come up with something you like!  Just fun!

Summer Fun

Henri was excited that the girls were over to play!

He wanted to watch...

Squint-y sunny morning.
The stores sell 3-D sidewalk chalk now!   Glitter too!  You put on the 3-D glasses and your drawings pop out at you.

Then on to sweep out the shed for playing "dress-up"...

sand sculpture and "store".

Party time!

Mark's Big "50"!
Hard to believe! I guess my oldest son is catching up to me.
Up until now, I had only been feeling like 50.
Well, the balloon had to burst sooner or later.

Mark was excited!

A  fun day and beautiful weather at Julie's.
