The riding lessons

Enjoyed watching the girls during their horseback riding lesson this past week.

And this is the horse that likes peppermints!  After he is done sucking on it, he cups his tongue so funny as if it needs to be cooled off after the mint.

"Well, what do you think of that?"

A day at Morton Arboretum...

and it was a beautiful day...

with beautiful girls...
Danielle, Marissa, Kassidy

and they had fun...

Reminders of Van Gogh...

Unbelieveable maze!

and whispers of Monet

down the rabbit hole!

a stop to look at the map.

Yes, it was a beautiful day.

Out early...

Got out early before the humidity was awful, to sketch my nasturtium.  They are one of my favorites.  I love their flowers, their leaves, and their color.

A new little one...

The birds are gone to bed the cows are still
And sheep lie panting on each old molehill
And underneath the willow's grey-green bough
Like toil a-resting lies the fallow plough
The timid hares throw daylight fears away
On the lane road to dust and dance and play
Then dabble in the grain by nought deterred
To lick the dew-fall from the barley's beard
Then out they sturt again and round the hill
Like happy thoughts - dance - squat - and loiter still
Till milking maidens in the early morn
Gingle their yokes and sturt them in the corn
Through well-known beaten pates each nimbling hare
Sturts quick as fear - and seeks its hidden lair

journaling on...

Haven't painted in a long time and just wanted to catch the pretty pink sky this morning.  I have to remember, it's just a journal page capturing a memory...

sketching again...

Just trying out drawing with colored pencils and something from the kitchen.

Chive plants that I have from Rob's grandmother.  Heritage Chives; is that what you would call them?

A day out

Tuesday, Julie and I had  a lovely day with our friend, Tish.  We went to the movies and saw "Chef" and i loved it!  Some "language" in the beginning, but you get past that and it's a "feel good" story.  Then we came back to Tish's and she made lunch for us.  Salmon patties and mac & cheese...yum!  A
"feel good" lunch.

So while Tish was busy in the kitchen, and her and Julie were talking over recipes, i did my sketchbook skool homework and sketched her kitchen.

Finished it with a little watercolor when i got home.

Here she is.

Kandi is looking for the birds.

Driving home, the sky was so dramatic.  We thought we'd run into a thunderstorm, but it didn't happen.

What a nice day!

the baby

Watchful Mommy

She built her nest in our awning and it stayed there through winds and rainstorm.

One little head peeking out.

Almost ready to go...I hope.

Rocks!

Julie had the girls over at her house yesterday, so I went over and we did some rock painting.

I had one of those Klutz books that gave them lots of ideas.  Danielle likes the animals...

and Kassidy was into hearts today and pinks and purples, of course!

the exhibit:

and Missy just wondered if there was anything else on the table besides rocks?
