Yesterday, when I let the dogs out, I heard the pee-wee again! Wish I could see him. Working on my Amsterdam watercolor in the morning, I decided to wait and go to art class for the afternoon session. Was going to be gone all day. A special treat in the evening to see "The Society of Illustrators - Illustrators 50 Travel Exhibition" at the American Academy of Art on Michigan Avenue. Wonderful to see and very inspiring! I want to go to school!

April, what is a pee wee? Never heard of it. Is it a bird?
I'm interested too?
Yes, it's the "Eastern Wood-Pewee". I first heard him at The Center in the woods, and our "wildflower" lady made us aware of his call. It's so sweet. She would say he's announcing himself. He says "pee-a-wee...pee-a-wee......peer"! It's a clear high note. My book says "among all the singers of the woodland he is the sentimentalist". "The Music of Wild Birds" by Judy Pelikan. A lovely book. And he's not blue, like Danielle's bird, he's brown.
