Wednesday's class

Working from a favorite photograph, I made a simple sketch. I am using the same photograph that I have been working on a watercolor from.

Paints are ready!

Block in colors.
Then I began to start my collage, layering papers for the mortar and bricks.

And greys and darks for the windows and door.

This piece takes my breath away The building just glows! If you used acrylics, I'm amazed at their transparent effect. And the tiny papers for the bricks, such patience. The doors and windows are just little painted papers too? Did you paint the papers with different values of light and dark for the windows? I keep coming back to look at this. Your diversity of collage subjects is amazing.

Very cool April. What kind of paper did you use for the bricks? I love the effect of the bricks on the texted paper.

The paper for the bricks is an add for chocolate chip cookies. It was just the right brown and had texture too! haha And the windows are all paper, different shades of black and grey. Thanks, ladies!

This piece is GREAT! I can't wait to see it up close and personal. I am really impressed with the cookie bricks over the text grout! Love, love, love the texture it creates. I have a favorite photograph from a recent photo shoot. I don't know if I am comfortable making the sketch, my drawing skills leave lots to be desired, but could I do this working from the original photograph?

That's the wonderful thing about collage. You can do whatever your Muse wants you to do!
