gone again...

Where did the time go. My grandson is gone back for his senior year in college. I stayed at the empty house with the beagles, while they moved furniture and bags and baggage.

Mementos left there as I tearfully peeked into his room. The writer...

the dreamer...
thoughts like mine...

where did those days go? Memories packed away.

those fun Harry Potter days.

and his all-time favorite cartoon character.

the music...

one of my wishes for him...

Then a trip to Wales...

and the typewriter that started everything...

Yes, and guess who got the ribbon from that old typewriter - with all of his "words" on it? yards of words!

oh my April you are such a dear
loving woman...I would have not thought of that...keeping words..sounds like a title of a good poem...
and did Julie buy that typewriter print at Hobby Lobby! I think she bought the one I wanted and passed up and then when I went back for it it was gone....rats!
And you know April...those ribbon words may worth thousands when he becomes a best selling author..good thinking...but I know, no one will get that ribbon from you..except for maybe his mom...It's so hard to believe that he is a senior in college...wasn't it yesterday you were looking at colleges to go to!!!

Actually, it was Brent who thought of it - to give me the treasured ribbon. To use in collage, but you are right, I will wait until he publishes his first novel! And I will ask Julie where she got that typewriter print! The "Dreamer" collage is one of Laura's. And you know I did a collage of that photo from Wales of the cemetary and my original is going to be hanging in his room too.

Love the memories! I adore the quote from Thoreau! I will have to use that!

I bet there were lots of tears flowing as you did this. Did you make up the quote about walking toward the sunshine? I'd like to post it on my facebook page.

So moving reading and seeing this April, it's like a visual poem. What a special young man.

Audrey - I made that little cube thing years ago and I am not sure if I knew who wrote it or if I have it on another part of the cube. I think they were maybe quotes given to us at the time. Here's what I found on the internet:

"Walk towards the sunshine, and the shadows will fall behind you." Mary Engelbreit

Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you." Walt Whitman

I love that Thoreau quote too, Doris.

And yes, Audrey, lots of tears.

Thank you Julie; he is very very special.
