May 16

Today is my friend Pat's funeral mass. It's a sad rainy morning, but I know the sun is going to come out because she wants me to remember the good times and be happy. This beautiful message on her memorial card tells me so:
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I've found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah, yes, these things I too shall miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me. God wanted me now; He set me free.

I just love this poem; it says it all, doesn't it? We can still feel the love of our departed through the wonderful memories.

And Pat's picture on the card was sooooo beautiful. I am blessed to have known her. She's up in heaven sketching angels and gardens as we speak!

April..I'm so very sorry about the loss of your friend. I have always thought that poem was wonderful..it does say it all.The loved ones left behind are the one's who grieve, not those who have left us. I reaaly believe that it is only their earthly bodies that leave, but they remain with us in spirit..we only have to listen to hear them. I think they would be sad if we grieved to hard. I know that I don't want my friends and family to suffer and have pain in their hearts when my body leaves this earth, because I will still be around them and if they grieve to hard they won't notice that I am there!
My sympathies to you...may the memories of your friend bring you comfort and inner peace.
